I have just noticed a new date on Laura's website, she will be performing with Noah Stewart and Amy Dickson at the Classical Fantasia at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds on 6th September. Tickets are £15 but are available at an early bird price of £10 until the end of July (TODAY!) www.leeds.gov.uk/c/Pages/SummerOfFun/Classical-fantasia.aspxDazza

After an afternoon in rainy York for the fabulous Songbirds concert, I decided that I would take an extended journey home via Leeds. Thankfully the rain had just about stopped by the time I arrived at Kirkstall Abbey. I wasn't exactly early and the arena was already quite full by the time I arrived. I considered myself quite fortunate to slip into a little space at the front of the main viewing area, just behind the 'Accessible Viewing Area' which was alongside the VIP area at the front. Still a fair way from the stage, but the best I was going to get (as I thought).
Laura's songs in the first half were 'O Mio Babbino Caro' and 'Nimrod'. This section closed with a spectacular firework display in the Abbey Ruins as Noah Stewart sang 'Nessun Dorma'.
Towards the end of the interval, I decided to go for a little wander and found to my surprise a smallish but very sparsely occupied unrestricted viewing area right by the stage. Back to fetch the chair and picnic (the family alongside me seemed quite perplexed that I was leaving) and I had a fantastic view for the second half.
Laura's contributions to the second half were 'Cinema Paradiso', 'Race to the End' from 'Chariots of Fire', 'Tonight' (duet with Noah Stewart) and 'I Vow to Thee My Country'. Even more spectacular fireworks to close the show as the orchestra played the 1812 Overture.
Despite the gloomy weather forecast, the rain stayed away for the entire evening. Unfortunately I forgot to pick up my camera when I left that morning, and the photos I took on my phone are not worth posting.
