Hi All (whoever's out there)
What a show yesterday - and what a great rehearsal we got to see as well, sort of "Laura Unplugged". Rochester Castle is ideal for a proms show although it felt like there were too many people yesterday. You couldn't get a decent bit of grass to sit on much after 15:30 although the show for real didn't start until long after 20:00. Wasn't sure about the warm up act but the rest was supreme. A good collection of patriotic songs and some good old classical favourites to go along with that. Laura sang a few numbers with Jonathan Antoine which were surprisingly brilliant - I hadn't realised how good he is. Fireworks during Land of Hope & Glory at the end and an encore which included more fireworks - how odd. We sat near, but not in, the VIP tent and in hindsight I wish we had got a lot closer to the stage as although the music would have been too loud for my delicate ears at least it would have drowned out the endless talking and cavorting from people (which seemed to be most of the audience) who clearly had made the most of imbibing at length all day. Also it should noted that the Orchestra and Choir had a very long day and they would be worthwhile seeing again in their own right.
Lastly the weather almost held out but we got a brief shower around 21:00 - Thanks goodness for the plastic macs.
