Hi All,
It was a great night at Eastbourne. The Royal Hippodrome is a really lovely venue, it's quite small and tucked away behind a mixed facade just one street off the promenade.
At first the audience was looking predictably grey and then suddenly went all pantomime when about 60 to 70 schoolchildren appeared in the audience - obviously there for the finale.
It looked like it was a homecoming of some kind for Kathryn Nash as several members of her immediate family were in the audience.
Laura Wright sang beautifully, she seemed very relaxed and enjoying the intimacy of the venue. The setlist was as performed recently but music from the violin duo Elektra was added in two parts during the first and second halves. That was actually a really good idea as they were blended into the show and it produced a interesting variety to the proceedings. Elektra clearly had a good representation in the audience and went down well.
We had seats bang in the centre and the acoustics were much better than I've heard of late. Laura's voice was crystal clear and as near to perfection as I've heard. The finale with a stage absolutely full of schoolchildren who put everything into their contribution was much appreciated by everyone there.

Thanks for the review Michael and it is good that Laura was on top form after her recent travels (although she did perform at a private event in London late last week). I believe that Kathryn grew up in Tunbridge Wells which is not that far from Eastbourne so I guess her family are still in that area.
Good luck to Laura at the Albert Hall today.
