Hi Everyone,
Here as promised is my report from yesterday.
PART ONE
I arrived in Thaxted mid afternoon and found the place to be very quiet. As the concert was not due to start until 8pm I had plenty of time to kill so I visited Poppy's Tea Room. I found it well deseved its award as Winner Best Tea Shop in Essex 2011-12.I then returned to my car and shortly after Graham arrived telling me that Dazza was unable to make it. As it was still over 2 hours before the concert we crossed to the church and could hear Laura rehearsing from outside. Shortly after Laura's mother came out and she told us she was off to get a coffee for Laura from the pub across the road. She chatted to us for a while and a little later Graham and I also visited The Swan for a pre concert drink. The church doors were open at 7pm and at that time we bought our programmes and took our seats. As chance would have it we were seating opposite each other in the fifth row of the centre knave with a good view of the stage.
THE CONCERT
The concert was entiltled A Garland of Englsh Song as Laura and her accompanying musicians had chosen a programme of music that spans more than 400 years of English song. The musicans were; Simon Lole Piano Katie Holt Cello Maria Camahort Guitar. After an intoduction Laura took to the stage wearing a blackjumpsuit with bling[as described by Laura]. The songs for the first half were as follows; Let the Bright Seraphin Flow my Tears In Darkness Let me Dwell Where the Bee sucks Lacrimea Guitar solo Maria Camahort Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes O Waly waly Down by the Salley Gardens An Evening Hymm Thoughout the concert Laura sang without a microphone and only used one during intoductions as she said her speaking voive was not as loud as her singing one.
More to follow.

PART TWO
During the 25 minute interval Graham and I enjoyed coffe and home made cake prior to the second half. Before Laura returned to the stage an announcent was made that no photography was allowed.I had already used my camera during the first half but Laura told me afterwards that someone had been filming the concert and this had led to the announcement.Laura wore the same outfit in this half and the songs were as follows; The Song of the Shadows Linden Lea Dream Valley Pretty Ring Time Sleep Farewell to Stromness Piano solo Simon Lole Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal The Last Rose of Summer The Lamb I Vow to Thee my Country Laura and the Musicans returned for a final bow to prolonged applause and comments of approval from the audience.
AFTERWARDS
Although the concert had attracted a large audience it had not been a sellout and only a few remained behind to meet Laura so we had not long to wait. Whilst Graham was having his programme and cds signed Steve Abbott appeared and although he had to rush off we exchanged greetings and he said he would be coming to Laura's London Concert on 14th Sept. Graham and I had our photos taken with Laura and she kindly posed for some more on her own.We thanked her for a very enjoyable evening and before she left we told her that we had front row seats for her Ipswich concert on 13th Sept.
Photos from the concert will follow soon.

Hi all, Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said in Gordon's excellent report on Saturday nights Thaxted concert? The honest answer is very little except thanks Gordon! What I will say is that Laura performed beautifully and treated us to a lovely variety of music and songs, some new and some not so new! I am sure you would like to see some pictures taken before and during the concert so I have posted Gordon's excellent photos on his behalf... Thaxted Parish Church Graham
