Oh, that's the same day as Siobhan Owen's concert at Chessington. But Siobhan's concert is in the afternoon. Just a 34 minute train ride and about 15 minutes walk between the two venues.
I wonder...... ;D

It was a great evening and we saw more of Laura than I think any of us were expecting. There were four spots marked in the programme for Laura, but no indication of what she would be singing, so we thought it would probably be just four songs. For Laura's first appearance she sang 'The Last Rose of Summer', accompanied by pianist Susanna Macrae. She then went on to sing 'Down by the Salley Garden' and 'The Rose'. We were again treated to three songs in Laura's second spot: 'Ave Maria', 'Danny Boy' and 'Born Free', also with piano accompaniment. The stage was reset in the interval with the piano moved to the back, so we wondered if the programme had been changed and Laura wouldn't sing in the second half. But our fears proved to be unfounded; Laura came on again to sing 'I Vow to Thee My Country', 'White Cliffs of Dover' and 'Jerusalem', this time to recorded backing tracks. Laura's final number was a new song written for the Salvation Army, titled 'My Simple Prayer'. The Hendon Salvation Army Band was wonderful, and a brass ensemble Superbrass treated us to more amazing and enthusiastically played music. Superbrass joined the main band for the second half. Photography was not allowed in the concert, but we were fortunate to meet Laura in the foyer afterwards.

Hi John Thanks for the report and I am amazed to hear that Laura sang ten songs!! I would normally expect five or six for this type of guest appearance. It sounds like a great evening with the bonus of meeting Laura afterwards. Pity I wasn't able to be there. Martin
